Girls and adults living in the council's jurisdiction are served through programs, camping experiences and activities designed to develop leadership skills, courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place. Regular programming includes financial literacy, curriculum featuring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and community projects. Also, GSNMT has adopted several initiatives geared specifically to address gaps and/or obstacles girls in New Mexico face. These initiatives include: Health and Wellness, Be a Friend First (anti-bullying), STEM, and Outdoor Education. Our programs balance fun with experiential hands-on learning to achieve short- and intermediate-term outcomes that give girls the means to cultivate 21st century skills and the knowledge and attitudes necessary to be successful in school, career, and life. GSNMT headquarters is located in Albuquerque, with regional offices in Farmington, Santa Fe, and Clovis, and camp properties in the Jemez Mountains and Angel Fire.
Girl Scouts is the premiere leadership organization dedicated solely to girls. For over 100 years Girls Scouts has been diligently pursuing its mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts provides opportunities for girls to develop leadership skills and self-esteem through self-discovery; collaborating with other girls and adults; and taking action to improve their communities. Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails (GSNMT), an affiliate of Girl Scouts U.S.A., serves girls in 23 counties across 71,500 miles in Central and Northern New Mexico. We trace our roots to the first Girl Scouts Council established in New Mexico in 1927.
