Over the last decade, High Country News has expanded from a black-and-white tabloid serving 20,000 readers into a multimedia operation that now reaches more than two million people. The High Country News media network now reaches over three million people a year, including the flagship publication, High Country News, published every two weeks with over 30,000 paid print and digital subscribers; a web site that currently attracts more than 156,000 unique visitors each month; and an online community that includes over 41,000 Facebook and more than 16,000 Twitter followers, as well as readers who get HCN’s stories from a range of web sites and publications.
High Country News' mission is to inform and inspire people to act on behalf of the West's land, air, water, and inhabitants, which we achieve by producing in-depth journalism about Western environmental and social issues and disseminating information via our magazine, Web site and other online media, and syndicated news/opinion service.
