The Santa Fe Institute is an independent, nonprofit research and education center that leads global research in complexity science. We welcome all complexity science enthusiasts to engage with us through our free community lecture series, our online education portal, our YouTube channel, and our free, annual InterPlanetary Festival. Supporters who join our Emergence Circle gain access to Science Club programming, which features small-group conversations with SFI scientists.
SFI is not an accredited academic institution and does not grant degrees. SFI does offer advanced educational opportunities for graduate students, postdocs, and professionals through in-person summer programs, including our Complex Systems Summer School, Graduate Workshop in Computational Social Sciences, and Global Sustainability Summer School. These programs provide a combination of theory and practice, including opportunities to pursue a novel research project under the guidance of school or workshop faculty. For earlier-stage scientists, SFI offers a summer research opportunity for undergraduate students.
To foster a transdisciplinary research community that expands the boundaries of scientific understanding and to discover the common fundamental principles in physical, computational, biological, and social systems that underlie many of the profound problems facing science and society today.
