The African American Performing Arts Center and Exhibit Hall (AAPAC) exists to celebrate, support and enhance the lives and accomplishments of African Americans in New Mexico and throughout the Southwest. AAPAC promotes visual and performing arts that support African American Culture; and sponsors scholastic and technological programs and projects that advance the research and preservation of the intellectual and cultural history of African Americans. The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Charlie Morrissey Center, and the summer school program work with AAPAC to provide educational opportunities to the youth of Albuquerque. Our 2700 square foot exhibition hall presents new and classic art during the year, which makes the exhibition hall an integral part of learning, discovery and exploration. The exhibition hall offers the opportunity to explore and discuss historical events that patrons might not be able to view anywhere else in the city.
Our goal is to promote visual and performing arts that support African American Culture and to sponsor scholastic and technological programs and projects that advance the research and preservation of the intellectual and cultural history of African Americans.
