Art in the School, Inc.

Our mission is to open the doors to learning for children through the visual arts. We supplement the limited, underfunded art education provided in public schools by providing opportunities for underserved children to learn about and create art.

Our vision includes teaching art for art’s sake by using a unique approach that teaches art history, uses works of art to engage students in critical thinking and doing the actual art itself. We also utilize art education to impact the curriculum across the board – from language arts and history, to science, math and beyond. We offer an After School Art Program, a Volunteer Training program, and Teacher Training Workshops.

Our approach uses art education to increase potential outcomes for underserved students and fuel the potential for future economic progress. Our programs support creative problem solving; address multiple learning styles; and promote the development of critical thinking and freedom to express ideas.
