Eight week full day summer program for 10 middle school youth to explore museums in the area, design and build an exhibit, develop touring guidelines, and hold a family opening of the exhibit. Local professional specialists will consult with the students about exhibit design and building techniques. Particpants are recommended by their teacher for this camp.
Launched in July of 2019, the Bernalillo Community Museum is a municipal museum that 1) leverages the power of local history and traditions to build local capacity, 2) invests in the area's multivocality, and 3) energizes civic engagement. We serve families from 500-year-old Hispanic villages and sovereign Pueblo communities located between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Museum exhibits capture large themes of community relevance, change regularly, and provide a platform for local conversations on policy-relevant issues.
