"Grow the Growers" Farm Training and Business Incubator Program
Bernalillo County Open Space/

"Grow the Growers" Farm Training and Business Incubator Program

Primarily an economic development initiative, the Cultivating Bernalillo County Grow the Growers Program is a comprehensive platform to prepare new and beginning farmers for professional food production careers. The program includes basic business development courses, farming production techniques, in-field practicums, apprenticeship opportunities and one to three years of business incubation field plots for program graduates. In addition to a robust community outreach effort, public-private partnerships provide a strong support system upon which the program is built.

Located in Albuquerque's South Valley, the Grow the Growers Program provides a cornicopia of opportunities to enhance the area's rich agricultural heritage, increase availability of local, fresh vegetables in South Valley food deserts, and provide meaningful training opportunities with paid stipends to at-risk populations such as minorities, youth, combat veterans, and formerly incarcerated individuals.
