Sofia Center for Professional Development

The Sofia Center for Professional Development designs and leads transformational professional development programs open to any educator in New Mexico. Our offerings are designed to support and inspire teachers, school leaders, and community educators working in Pre-K through University settings. Our signature public programs include our monthly Reflect : Innovate : Act series, which convenes an average of 40-60 educators from across Albuquerque and beyond for shared learning and inspiration; our annual 3-day retreat for education leaders, Wild Leadership, which builds leadership capacity and wisdom among school leaders; and a range of other workshops, film screenings, and courses.  Since opening our doors in 2013, we have welcomed educators from over 270 schools and organizations.

The Sofia Center is helping build a future in which educators’ work is revered as complex, challenging, and a central life force in every community – a future in which educators are afforded the resources necessary to teach and lead in ways that transform students’ lives. We engage educators in reflection, dialogue, and action focused on essential questions about teaching and learning. The Center nurtures and restores educators’ sense of calling and purpose, and empowers educators to be creators of innovative change in their schools and communities.
