Since 2013, BMP has conducted a statewide survey on New Mexico’s nonprofits. The survey has become an important tool to tell the story of the important role of New Mexico’s nonprofit sector, and learn about how they work for the common good, do advocacy and engage in social change. Nonprofits play in integral role in the state, and the survey increases awareness and understanding of the needs and opportunities of the nonprofit sector.
The Building Movement Project (BMP) is a national organization that supports nonprofit organizations and other groups committed to social change by developing research, training, tools and ideas that help shift organizations and systems. In New Mexico, BMP works with nonprofits in the state to strengthen connections and collaboration between service, organizing and advocacy groups, and support organizations to embrace a social change orientation.
BMP's work in New Mexico is grounded in the local expertise of our partners on the ground. We established an Advisory Committee in 2014 to help support and guide the work in New Mexico. The Committee has been key in supporting our work building bridges between service, organizing and advocacy groups to better address issues facing those in the state with the greatest need. BMP also relies on local capacity builders to ensure that the work is relevant to organizations in New Mexico.
