Albuquerque Reads is a literacy development program for kindergarten students in three Albuquerque public schools. The program empowers kindergarten students to be literate, lifelong learners through a supportive community of tutors and mentors. Albuquerque Reads pairs students, one-to-one, with a volunteer tutor for thirty minutes, three times per week.
Albuquerque Reads is a partnership between the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce by way of the Career Guidance Institute and Albuquerque Public Schools - Title I Department.
The Career Guidance Institute (CGI) exists to support the education initiatives of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. CGI's primary goal is to work with educational providers to create and support programs that nurture success for students regardless of their background. The Chamber believes that a strong educational system is the key to a community's economic vitality.
