Casa de Salud has a harm reduction program based at the clinic, since 2005. Anyone is welcome to drop in for services during our open hours, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. We are grateful to the New Mexico Department of Health for funding this program.
Services include (for drug users and for people who love drug users):
NOTE: The syringe exchange is NOT for people who are using needles for medical prescription purposes. These syringes are incinerated because of potential for infectious agents, and people who use needles for diabetes, testosterone administration, and otherwise, can throw their syringes in the trash (inside a hard plastic bottle like a laundry detergent bottle, with tape on it stating there are needles inside). We do not want to burn syringes that do not need to be incinerated, and further affect the environment.
The mission of Casa de Salud (Casa) is to promote the development and sustenance of individuals and organizations that provide health services, health literacy, community health promotion, health leadership development, health advocacy and health system change. Casa interweaves traditional and conventional medicines to meet the physical and spiritual health needs of its patients in a welcoming, just, creative, and inclusive environment, providing fair priced health care to anyone in need, and promoting a learning and leadership development environment for practitioners, staff, volunteers, patients and clients.
