Changing Woman Initiative Birth and Wellness Center Philosophy of Practice

CWIBWC believes that healthcare is a human right. We believe that our sacred life way teachings are a map for how we should care for our selves and that women are sacred life givers to whom bring life to their nations. We believe that women have the right to sovereignty over their bodies, minds, and spirits. We believe that birth, pregnancy, motherhood is sacred and transformative. At CWIBWC, we respect diverse ways of knowing and learning. We uphold breastfeeding as a sacred medicine for the mother and her baby. We also support families and communities to have a right to choose their caregivers and to be active decision makers in their healthcare.

At CWIBWC, we seek to provide decolonized healthcare and recognize that communities are experts. We acknowledge, honor, and respect traditional knowledge & birth keepers in communities and seek to work with them to help pass on life way teachings, as that we see this to be the center of healing for women, families, and nations.

We at CWIBWC aim to support women in their journey through the many life cycles through supporting their relationship with plant medicines, which historically has kept us healthy and thriving. We seek to support sustainable living through the teachings of mother earth by providing education and knowledge about traditional foods.

By supporting the next generation from the womb forward, we are transforming our nations one family at a time.
