First Teacher/Primer Maestro Program was created specifically for Doña Ana County parents and caregivers of children age 3-6 who are bi-lingual or monolingual in Spanish. Our state-accredited six-week First Teacher program empowers parents to engage in the early education of their children. Parents are their children's first teachers, and our parent support program focuses on the importance of understanding how children learn and develop and how to best prepare them for wellness and success in school and life. Since it began in 2012, over 1000 families have earned certificates from the First Teacher program.
