The Cien Aguas International is a K-8 Spanish Immersion Charter School approved by the Albuquerque Public Schools District. Cien Aguas International School (CAIS) has a total of 400 students and a focus on dual language instruction, inquiry, and environmental sustainability. We seek to develop students who can ask and investigate important questions about the world around them, are committed to a sustainable society, and are working toward cross cultural competence, bilingualism, and biliteracy in Spanish and English.
In line with our mission for inquiry-based learning, we believe that our students must be prepared to investigate important questions in life, learn to think critically and creatively, and develop problem-solving strategies and perseverance - all essential life skills. We are excited to be actively pursuing and implementing enhancements in our Middle School Curriculum (grades 6,7,8) through programs such as the nationally recognized curriculums of Project Lead The Way (PLTW) and Expeditionary Learning (EL). PLTW consists of project-based Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) courses, with additional emphases on career exploration and community outreach in STEM fields. EL is an active learning style in which students are engaged as collaborative participants in their classrooms and their communities.
At Cien Aguas International School we feel that students can not have rigor in their education without relevence. The addition of Project Lead The Way and Expeditionary Learning to achieve greater engagement in learning for Middle School Students through hands-on and community-based projects is just one example of how we seek to achieve our mission.
