Home Visiting Program

This home-based program provides first time pregnant women and parents with home visits by a trained health educator. The visits are an opportunity for new parents to learn about prenatal and postpartum care, parenting, comforting their new baby, feeding, breastfeeding, infant growth and development, selecting books/toys that teach, community resources, working towards solutions for family challenges and nurturing positive relationships. All first time parents, families and their newborns in New Mexico are eligible for their free program. New moms may begin participation in the program at any time during pregnancy and up until their newborn is 2 months old. Participants may receive home visitor and support until the child reaches age 3.St. Joseph Referral Service: This referral service is integrated with and works in conjunction with the Home Visit program. Needs are identified by families during the home visiting process. Individuals enrolled in the Home Visit program will receive individualized assistance in accessing needed resources in the community.

Restrictions: All first-time parents, families and their newborns who live in the metropolitan area (Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia Counties) are welcome to participate in this free program. Program participation may begin any time during pregnancy up until a baby is 2 months old. Participation continues until the baby is 3 years old.

CommonSpirit St. Joseph's Children

CommonSpirit St. Joseph's Children is a free and voluntary Home Visiting Program offering weekly Virtual Visits at a time and in a location convenient for everyone.   

We are a FREE universal Joyful Parenting Partnership program with no income requirements. CommonSpirit St. Joseph’s Children is a self-funded program due to an endowment. We do not utilize any government funding (federal, state, or local government funds of any type) in serving families. We do not bill the family or insurances for any costs.

All first time parents are offered Prenatal Joyful Parenting Partnership (if enrolled during pregnancy) with week by week pregnancy curriculum and pregnancy models including information that prepares the family for labor and delivery.  Following the birth of the baby, Postpartum Joyful Parenting Partnership provide detailed information about baby’s first few weeks of life as well as what mom is experiencing.

We teach parents how to do infant massage which helps your baby relax, sleep and be closer to you. In addition, we provide Breastfeeding Support and Lactation Consultation. We also provide Case Management Services. Participation continues until the baby is 3 years old.

Eligibility

  1. Must be Mother’s and/or Father’s or Caregivers first child by birth, adoption, or child placement.
  2. Enrollment period is anytime during pregnancy and until the child reaches 2 months of age.
  3. You must live in the state of New Mexico.
