Communities In Schools of New Mexico is the 26th state affiliate of Communities In Schools - the nation's leading drop out prevention organization. Founded in 2012, Communities In Schools of New Mexico (CIS) serves 5,000 Santa Fe students attending the lowest performing and highest poverty schools. CIS's evidence-based wrap around services/integrated student supports framework has been proven to support academic and life success for students.
CIS's Site Coordination Program places full-time social worker trained individuals inside of schools where they assess school and individual student needs, develop school wide and individual student plans designed to remove obstacles and barriers to learning. Focusing on five key indicators including academics, behavior, attendance, basic needs and parent engagement, CIS's staff work to ensure that every student has access to the supports and resources necessary to keep the on track in school leading to graduation, college or career and a full and productive life.
