The annual Oasis Blacklight Party at Meow Wolf is a concert-style event featuring teen DJs and musicians from the Santa Fe area. The event is designed, produced, promoted, and fundraised by teenage volunteers with the purpose of building community, providing creative spaces, and supporting high school artists, musicians, dancers, writers, and entrepreneurs. The performing arts aspect of the Convergence Project specifically focuses on hosting affordable concerts and other performing arts based events open to all youth.
Come get painted by teen artists and glow under blacklight while listening to the best up-and-coming Santa Fe DJs. This event is a combination of rave, dance party, and concert. Non-toxic body paint and glitter will be provided by Convergence. The Oasis Blacklight Party is only one of several for teen, by teen events Convergence will host.
The Convergence Project is a non-profit, place-based, youth-led collaboration that unifies teens through art and music to create public opportunities for them to pursue their passions.
Santa Fe lacks venues and events that foster intellectual connection and artistic creativity among youth. The Convergence Project helps fill this void by creating positive change in the local community through authentic projects and events that are designed, produced and promoted by youth, especially in the arts, music, journalism, and entrepreneurship, from an alliance of schools and organizations around the city. Through Convergence, students also learn to meet and overcome challenges by developing valuable real world career skills with adult mentors that build resiliency, help them adapt to change, and foster opportunities for other youth.
As an incubator for artistic expression and entrepreneurship, Convergence has given a rewarding platform and audience to teen artists and inspired teens to create for the past six years. Convergence provides teens from all different backgrounds an opportunity to have fun and collaborate together.
