DARE TO BE YOU provides educational programs and facilitator training for parents, children, teachers, and child care providers. The program focus is on developing positive self-esteem and stress-management and building communications skills. The result of acquiring these skills is a heightened self-concept which will help individuals and families to avoid the problems of substance abuse and violence in the home. The program has proven to be effective helping both functional families and with parents who may be struggling with personal issues and their children who may be considered "at-risk"for having problem behaviors in the future. DARE TO BE YOU is a community outreach project of the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension.
