The Disability Coalition is an open and informal cross-disability coalition of individuals with disabilities, family members and advocates, along with organizations and agencies that represent and advocate for the needs and interests of persons with disabilities. The purpose of the Coalition is to promote a collaborative and coordinated approach to public policy issues affecting persons with disabilities, with a primary emphasis on Medicaid programs such as the community-based waiver programs and the Personal Care Option. Efforts of the Coalition are coordinated through a Steering Committee made up of representatives of five disability advocacy organizations/agencies. The Coalition is administered through Disability Rights New Mexico, with funding from the DD Planning Council, DRNM and other organizational members of the Steering Committee.
Disability Rights New Mexico – DRNM - is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to protect, promote and expand the rights of persons with disabilities. DRNM is the designated protection and advocacy program for New Mexico, and as such we have authority under federal law to pursue legal, administrative and other remedies on behalf of persons with disabilities.
