Head Start/Early Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families.
Children who attend Head Start/Early Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They also receive medical and dental care assistance, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting.Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Head Start programs promote the school readiness of children ages three to five from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.
Head Start/Early Head Start helps all children succeed. Most children in Head Start/Early Head Start are between the ages of two and five years old. Services are available to infants and toddlers in selected sites.
