Working directly with the counselors and social workers employed at the public schools of the Moriarty-Edgewood School District, Edgewood Womenade is notified when a financial-aid recipient has been identified by the counselor/social worker. Through the integral vetting process provided by the counselor/social worker, Edgewood Womenade can quickly disperse financial aid to the household in crisis. Since there are no forms for the recipient to fill out and all names are kept confidential, funds are usually dispersed within 24 hours. For circumstances entailing emergency help with propane filling, payment of water and electric bills, car repair, etc., Edgewood Womenade pays service providers directly. In the cases that necessitate emergency assistance for food, gas, or other basic needs, gift cards from the appropriate establishment are dispersed. Cash is never conferred and although Edgewood Womenade rarely has any contact with financial aid recipients, we are always kept abreast on their progress by the counselors and social workers involved. When Edgewood Womenade is engaged during times of financial crisis, the child(ren) involved may continue to perform well academically, and in many cases (especially regarding help with gas, etc.,) are precisely allowed to stay in school.
