International Visitor Leadership Program

Our primary program is the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The IVLP is a professional exchange program that seeks to build mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to the U.S. for current and emerging foreign leaders.

Under the authority of the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassies around the world identify potential leaders to visit the U.S. to examine their counterparts’ work in our country. As a member of Global Ties U.S., Global Ties ABQ is selected to manage visits to local professional and cultural activities for international visitors in much of New Mexico. These professional exchanges are conducted in all industries, from Firefighting to Innovation to Healthcare.

Our International Visitors meet with professional resources from all fields of expertise, have meals with members and spend their free time enjoying New Mexico’s cultural opportunities. Our citizen diplomats – members of Global Ties ABQ and our community resources – are what make this program beneficial by contributing knowledge, time and a handshake all in the name of furthering positive international relations.
