The Backpacks for Kids Program, in its 8th year of existence, provides children living in poverty and attending local elementary schools with a bag of kid-friendly food to take home on Fridays during the school year. Backpack food programs provide nutritious, non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to children to ensure they get enough food on weekends and holidays to avoid hunger when they can’t depend on school meals. Surveys show that more than 75% of the children in the Grants Cibola County schools qualify for free and reduced lunches.
The mission of the Grants Milan Rotary Foundation Inc. is to enable Rotarians to advance understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
