Home Preservation and Repair

  • Home Preservation: exterior work that includes painting, patching, minor repair, landscaping and replacement of exterior building materials for maintaining good or sound condition. Home Preservation may include programs such as “Brush with Kindness”, and “Aging in Place”.
  • GAHH provides affordable home repairs on homes owned and occupied by people of limited income. It is not an emergency repair program; the process typically takes several months to complete.
  • Owner Occupied: applicants must own the home where the repairs are to be made
  • Primary Residence: applicant must occupy the home as their primary residence
  • Necessary Repairs: applicant or a member of the household must have a need that makes the request for repairs necessary
  • A qualified designee will perform the initial assessment to determine if the requested work falls within our guidelines and abilities to perform the repairs.
  • Financial Eligibility: guidelines for financial eligibility are based upon the Area Median Income (AMI) as defined by HUD. Current guidelines are provided in the appendix. Eligible applicants must fall between 30% to 60% of AMI.
  • Willingness to Partner: applicants receiving services must be present at all times during the duration of the repair work. Any able-bodied household members must help during the project where appropriate and applicable. Other friends and family (not living in the household) are also encouraged to participate.
  • AHH will ensure that all repair work is completed in full compliance with applicable local building codes and accessibility standards
