Hawks Aloft delivers education programs to elementary, middle school, and high school aged students across New Mexico. This can take the shape of one-time visits to the school or education site, or through a more expansive program called Living with the Landscape (LWL). Living with the Landscape is a year long, multi-visit program offered to several elementary schools in the Albuquerque area. Leaders at the school fill out an application and coordinators at Hawks Aloft select the schools. The program is frequently funded with grant money. LWL emphasizes ecological principles that are important to the high desert and makes them accessible to young learners. All of our programs are enriched with the presence of live, permanently injured birds of prey, dubbed "Avian Ambassadors."
Hawks Aloft also offers adult programs on birds of prey and other local bird species.
Hawks Aloft, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization incorporated in 1994 and based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We work to conserve indigenous wild birds and their habitats through avian research, conservation education, rehabilitation, and cooperation with other organizations.
