Emergency Housing For Crime Victims And Their Pets

Emergency Housing For Crime Victims And Their Pets

The Triumph House, initiated by Lea County Crime Victim Advocates in Hobbs, NM, addresses the urgent need for shelter for crime victims and their pets amidst a growing population and dwindling shelter options. With only one existing shelter that accommodates a limited number of women and children, 75-85% of victims lack the necessary support to escape abuse. The Triumph House aims to provide a safe haven, offering services that promote recovery and independence.

Through partnerships with organizations like Dominus Training Services and A Tranquil Path, the house will deliver holistic support, including trauma recovery, job placement, and independent living assistance. It aspires to accommodate at least 20 victims and their pets monthly, becoming the region's first "Shelter For All."

Focusing on marginalized groups, including undocumented immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, and pet owners, The Triumph House will extend its services across New Mexico and West Texas. This initiative is crucial for empowering victims to break free from cycles of abuse and rebuild their lives. Support for The Triumph House is vital to ensure these individuals have access to the resources they need for safety and independence.
