the Little Bear Forest Reform Coalition conducts a variety of community and tourist visitor education activities to provide information on wildfire protection, forest health and watershed improvement. These include 1) monthly seminars on a variety of forest and watershed topics; 2) annual wood industry and forest conferences; 3) installation and operation of road-side LED messaging signs displaying forest health and watershed improvement messages on major highways throughout the southcentral mountain region; and 4) creation and distribution of a wildfire prevention and safety refrigterator magnet to rural residents through Lincoln County and Mescalero.
The LBFRC mission is to: promote positive change in National, State and local policies with regard to forest health and wildfire prevention in Lincoln County and on the Mescalero Apache Reservation; to hold federal and state agencies accountable in their responsibility to protect public and private property; and, to eduate and involve local citizens in taking responsibility for creating a healthy forest environment on their own properties.
