Brianna Mariah Lopez was born on Valentine's Day 2002, and she died five months later as a result of child abuse and neglect. The overarching mission of the Baby Brianna Foundation is to foster greater community awareness and involvement to improve child welfare in the state of New Mexico.
Our clients are found in various places in the local Albuquerque community. We make attempts to visit clients at the local homeless shelters and hospitals of Albuquerque. For newborns we typically provide blankets, formula, and a diaper bag full of hygiene items for the infant and diapers. Strollers and car seats are also provided subject to availability.
We meet clients at our monthly community event, currently held at the parking lot of the Mission Albuquerque: Grace Thrift Store (next to the Sandia Church of the Nazarene) located at 8216 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, where we participate in feeding families in the SE valley of Albuquerque.
YOU MUST COME TO THE GRACE THRIFT STORE IN ADVANCE TO FILL OUT A FORM LISTING ITEMS OF NEED, INCLUDING A CELL PHONE NUMBER WHERE YOU CAN RECEIVE AND SEND TEXTS. YOU MUST REPLY TO OUR TEXT TO CONFIRM YOUR PICK-UP OF ITEMS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THEM.
If you are an expectant mother and do not have transportation, you can send someone on your behalf to pick up your items. If transportation is a hardship let us know in advance who will pick up your items.
Mission Albuquerque is a non-profit organization, established in 1999 to bring hope to a community in need, helping people turn the corner from a place of need to a place of service to others. We do this by 1) Meeting people at their point of need (meeting real and felt needs), 2) Providing education and training in areas of need to bring individuals to a place of health and wholeness, and 3) Empowering people to care for and meet the needs of others.
