The National Latino Farmers and Ranchers Trade Association New Mexico Chapter Youth Project is a college preparation and career exploration program that highlights Food, Agriculture, Nutrition, and Human Sciences (FANH) for low-income students. The program features academic year tutoring in STEM, once a month hands-on workshops with educator farmers, and a summer residential program on the main campus of NM Institute of Mining and Technology (NM Tech). FANH sciences or mini courses are offered over a two day period where students study in a college atmosphere and visit nearby attractions such as the VLA.
The National Latino Farmers and Ranchers Trade Association (NLFRTA) New Mexico Chapter has a mission to provide educational training and technical assistance to historically underserved (Latino, Native American) farms and ranching advocacy groups transitioning into farm ownership and small producers in New Mexico. NLFRTA provides outreach and technical assistance to ensure the integrity of safe food systems for future generations.
