NTEC has environmental media programs in air quality, drinking water, and toxics and pesticides. NTEC has policy, advocacy, and communications programs that serve to: * Promote an understanding of the natural world based on indigenous cultural and spiritual values. * Educate the public about tribal diversity, population, land base, and environmental issues. * Increase awareness about tribal legal status in the American political landscape. * Defend tribal jurisdiction and authority. * Support sovereign tribal government initiatives to gain control over natural resources and environments. * Advance tribal environmental capacity and regulatory development, and primacy withing their homelands. * Assist tribes in intergovernmental environmental partnerships. * Recommend protocols to achieve effective communications and productive interactions. * Encourage communication and collaboration among tribes to provide awareness and solutions to tribal environmental concerns. * Seek tribal inclusion in national climate change policy for mitigation and adaptation strategies. * Partner with other organizations to accomplish mission. * Integrate timeless traditional teachings and values into contemporary day practices.
