Native American Tax Assistance (NATA) is a non-profit corporation formed in 2017 to be a reputable provider to Native Americans for income tax preparation services. Native Americans living on the reservation don’t have many choices for which tax preparer to use. They are limited by which tax preparer they can get to and afford. According to the 2010 Census, 173,667 Navajo people live on the reservation. Many people don't have access to a vehicle. There is no public transportation on the Navajo Nation. Most people don't have gas money. Compared to the US population as a whole, the Navajo are younger, poorer and unemployed. Most roads remain unpaved and many people live more than 50 miles from the closest population center.
This innovative project brings tax preparation services directly to the Native Americans. NATA will visit each chapter house on the Navajo Reservation and prepare the tax returns for Native American taxpayers free of charge. NATA’s management and volunteers are committed to treating all Native Americans with the respect that they deserve.
To be a trusted partner to prepare tax returns for Native Americans.
