Our program began in 1997. We work primarily with Navajo men who have succumbed to the pain of addiction through alcohol, drugs, or other addictive behavior. Our methods include a clinical approach, educating the clients on the detrimental effects of drugs and alcohol on the body along with how one can become chemically and emotionally dependent with abuse. We balance the clinical aspect of our program with a Christ centered approach, within the context of Navajo culture, dealing with the spiritual side of addiction. The majority of our clients come to us through the judicial system of San Juan County. Our success rate for men completing our residential and aftercare program is 60% to 70%. We house up to eight men, twice a year, on the campus of the Navajo BIC Mission. We try to supply whatever is needed to provide a quality atmosphere so that our clients can focus their attention on recovery. Each man has his own room with a simple bed and dresser. We provide recreation with a small game room and a workout room with basic equipment. Our curriculum consists of individual counseling, group therapy, bible study, financial planning, computer basics, family dynamics, and responsibility awareness. Weekly phone calls and visits encourage family to stay involved in the recovery process of each client.
To eliminate the existence of chemical dependency through the application of Biblical principles while maintaining the cultural integrity of its participants.
