The New Mexico History Museum is part of a campus that includes the Palace of the Governors, a National Treasure and the oldest continuously occupied public building in the United States; the Fray Angelico Chavez History Library, The Palace of the Governors Photo Archives; the Press at the Palace of the Governors; and the Native American Artisans Program. A division of the State of New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, its exhibitions and programs are supported by the Museum of New Mexico Foundation.
The New Mexico History Museum and the Palace of the Governors present exhibitions and public programs and actively acquires and holds in perpetuity collections relating to the heritage of New Mexico and the Southwest. It serves as a history center for research, education, and lifelong learning, delivering quality programs that encourage knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of New Mexico's diverse cultures.
