New Mexico's Native American citizens will have the resources necessary to improve their quality of life and maintain their cultures and languages through negotiations between tribal government and State of New Mexico governance. IAD is the lead State Government Agency that coordinates relationships betweens tribes, nations, and pueblos and the State of New Mexico. IAD's policy initiatives are designed to strengthen tribal and state relations and address the challenges we face in our communities; challenges such as economic development, infrastructure improvement, the protection of our cultures and languages, health care accessibility, and educational opportunities for our most precious resource, our children.
