The New Mexico Local News Fund is offering financial support (up to $2,000) for journalists based in New Mexico to attend a training or conference in 2019.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all the funds are allocated this year. Applicants will be reviewed by NMLNF and a committee from the Rio Grande chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
If selected, NMLNF requires that you submit receipts for reimbursement. You will also be required to submit 1-2 paragraphs after the conference about what you learned and how you think it will impact your future journalism work.
If multiple journalists apply from one organization, NMLNF may only approve financial support for two. In that case, we will contact the news director or editor to consult.

The New Mexico Local News Fund is bringing together community members and journalists who believe that local journalism is crucial for our communities. NMLNF is also working to secure state and national investments in programs that serve the news and information needs of all New Mexicans. Our goals are to help news organizations cultivate the next generation of journalists, expand professional development for reporters, and improve collaboration. Stronger local journalism will ensure that the stories of New Mexico's diverse communities are told accurately and with the context needed to understand them. |
