The New Mexico Resiliency Alliance (NMRA) serves as a vehicle for soliciting, acquiring, and disseminating financial resources for community development projects throughout New Mexico, particularly in rural and underserved communities. The NMRA partners with the New Mexico MainStreet Program (NM Economic Development Department) to connect financial resources with technical assistance to historic downtown and rural communities to build synergy for community development and revitalization activities under the MainStreet Four Point Approach. The Alliance prioritizes resources for projects in need of matching funds for existing or planned community development initiatives. In 2014, the NMRA established the Resilient Communities Fund to support projects within six priority areas: 1) asset-based economic development projects in rural communities, 2) historic preservation and placemaking projects in public spaces, 3) enhancing creative economy through arts, culture and tourism, 4) strengthening civic engagement and capacity development among ‘community builders’, 5) increasing food security through community-supported agriculture, and 6) stewardship of water and environmental resources.
The mission of the New Mexico Resiliency Alliance is to strengthen the resiliency of New Mexico’s rural and underserved communities through mobilizing and leveraging resources and collaborative partnerships that enhance the economic vibrancy and quality of life of its residents.
