The NMVFO works closely with municipal, state, and federal agencies hosting their outdoor recreation work projects of varying lengths throughout New Mexico. Participate in the preservation and upkeep of hiking trails in New Mexico wilderness areas and other activities including stabilizing archaeological sites, refurbishing campgrounds or improving wildlife habitat. Join others on single day or 2 day-plus projects, where work is needed, such as Chaco Canyon, the Pecos, the Bosque del Apache, the Pino Trail in the Sandia Mountains, and many other unique, beautiful places. All volunteers, men and women work at a pace for their comfort zone, choosing tasks of their choice from trimming bushes and trees, painting trail markers to building check dams, water bars and rock walls.
