New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Established in 1903, the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NMSBVI) has provided residential, academic, outreach services, and support to the blind and visually impaired children of New Mexico. Today, it also serves blind children with multiple disabilities - including deafness. The school's residential campus is still located on its' original site in Alamogordo and primarily serves children in grades 3 - 12. In 1974, an Early Childhood Program (ECP) pre-school (2.5 6 years of age), was established in Albuquerque. The ECP campus is home to the Early Childhood Program, and two (2) statewide programs: Outreach - which runs low vision clinics throughout the state, and Infant/Toddler - which provides family support and services to blind and visually impaired children from birth thru age 2.5 years.
