Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring Program

The OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring Program teams with Albuquerque and Rio Rancho public schools, pairing trained adult volunteers with K-4 students who are reading below grade level.  The volunteers serve as reading mentors, building the child's confidence and skills needed to succeed academically.  The program utilizes the special relationship that develops across generations to reap benefits for both students and adults. Veterans History Project, a volunteer oral history project that is part of a Library of Congress initiative. Volunteers are trained to do oral testimonies of veterans.

Oasis Albuquerque is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote healthy aging through a three-pronged approach - lifelong learning, healthy living and volunteer engagement. Offering challenging programs in the arts, humanities, science, wellness, and volunteer service, Oasis creates opportunities for older adults to continue their personal growth and provide meaningful service to the community.
