Partners in Education provides bus transportation for approximately 250 educational field trips serving more than 7,000 Santa Fe Public Schools students each school year, an average of 1.4 trips every school day. The trips provide exposure to places of educational, recreational and cultural interest. For many of our students, this is their only opportunity to engage in these valuable learning experiences in Santa Fe and around New Mexico.
In order to take the burden off teachers and schools, Partners provides a simple one-stop online form for teachers to request a free bus. Our field trip coordinator then prepares and submits all the paperwork for the SFPS Transportation Department; follows up to be sure a bus has been allocated; deals with any changes in the request; takes care of requests for special needs, such as a wheelchair-equipped bus; receives and reviews the invoices; and submits the invoices for payment. This frees up the teacher, and school administrative staff, for more important duties.
The Partners in Education Foundation for the Santa Fe Public Schools is an independent non-profit organization founded on the conviction that the entire community shares the responsibility for and benefits of a high-quality public education. The mission of Partners in Education is to marshal resources, forge alliances, and advocate for excellence in the Santa Fe Public Schools. The mission of ArtWorks is to make the arts personally meaningful to children and teachers through a process of inquiry and reflection, field trips to performances and exhibits, and art-making. ArtWorks is a program of Partners in Education.
