Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico

We do public concerts in historic locations (such as the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, and the Old San Ysidro Church in Corrales), in winter and summer. We provide opportunities for vocalists resident in New Mexico, and enable New Mexico composers to show off their work. We strive to disseminate New Mexican music outside the state, and to raise awareness of New Mexican composers and performers in a way that can improve their professional opportunities. We work with local secondary schools to expose students to the classical choral repertoire. We also perform for retirement communities.

Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico

Polyphony:  Voices of New Mexico (PVNM) is a vocal ensemble comprised of some of the finest vocalists resident in New Mexico.  These musicians entertain audiences with both traditional choral repertoire and new music from New Mexico composers, thus showing New Mexico as a home for musical excellence in composition and performance. PVNM’s objectives include the following:

  • To prepare students to make meaningful contributions in the world.
  • To speak to the issues of social justice for New Mexico’s children at risk, homeless population, elderly, disabled, and impoverished.
  • To expand the understanding and impact of music through performance, composition, and research.
  • To foster appreciation for music and participation in musical activities throughout the community.
  • To enrich and engage the broader community through performances and educational programs.
  • To serve as a musical education resource not only for the Albuquerque area, but also for the state, the nation, and the world.
