Parent Organization
Public Academy for Performing Arts (PAPA)

MISSION: The Public Academy for Performing Arts is a small, supportive educational community where students achieve high academic standards and pursue excellence in the performing arts.

PAPA serves students from Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance and Valencia Counties. There are 420 students in grades 6-12 with a little over half in the middle school. Students attend PAPA for a number of reasons. About forty percent come to the school as experienced performing artists. The other sixty percent attend because of the small population, interest (but no experience) in one or more performing art forms, individualized attention, academic rigor, and the search for a climate that is respectful of all. We welcome and work to meet our mission with each student!

Our goals within the mission include: 1. Providing educational opportunities and support that will maximize ability to attain academic skills needed for success in college; 2. Work within the arts and integrate the arts into subject areas, so students can develop their talent and acquire the soft skills necessary for future employability and functionality as a leader and participating member of society; 3. Promote a lifelong love of academic learning and the arts.
