We repair and rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners at no cost in the communities of Algodones, Bernalillo, Corrales, Pena Blanca, Placitas, Rio Rancho, San Ysidro, and in Sandoval County west of Rio Rancho. We serve low-income elderly and disabled persons, veterans, and working families who cannot afford critical home repairs. We concentrate on repairing housing problems which impact the ability of the family to remain in their home safely. Repairs typically include roof repairs, furnace and water heater replacements, correcting plumbing and electrical deficiencies, and home modifications needed for disability accommodations (wheelchair ramps, shower/tub/toilet modifications, widening doors).
Rebuilding Together Sandoval County (RTSC) is an all-volunteer 501.c.(3) nonprofit that rehabilitates owner- occupied homes for low-income families in Sandoval County. Our services are entirely free to qualified homeowners. Since our incorporation in 1999, we have completed approximately 300 home repair projects. RTSC is an affiliate of the national organization Rebuilding Together, which currently has more than 120 affiliates serving over 600 cities in the United States. RTSC is the only affiliate in New Mexico.
Our program provides housing stability for low-income members of our community by repairing deteriorating structures so that families may thrive in a safe and healthy home. We believe that repair and preservation of existing homes is a proactive approach to maintaining affordable housing and preventing homelessness in our community.
