Rio Grande Community Farm

Started 20 years ago, Rio Grande Community Farm operates an organic community garden open to the public and hosts Albuquerque Master Gardeners, Tres Hermanas Refugee Farmer Project, and Firewheel Collective. Our farming operation demonstrates urban sustainable agriculture and provides fresh, organic produce. We value physical, emotional, cultural and financial health of our communities, with near-term economic impacts of approximately $264,400 per year spread among partner non-profits. In addition to food for people, 25% of what we grow is for wildlife including flocks of migrating geese and sandhill cranes. We offer education programs including service learning opportunities for students of all ages and gardening workshops. Each fall, we host the annual Maize Maze which is open to the public on weekends and available for group field trips during the week.
