The County Mobile Health Van, a program of Santa Fe County Community Services Dept., travels throughout Santa Fe County to senior centers, community centers, food distribution sites, health fairs, pueblos, shopping centers, and other community locations providing free health screenings. Services include blood pressure screening, blood glucose and cholesterol monitoring, and oxygen assessment. Nurses also provide health information and refer people to health care providers and to places for help in enrolling in health insurance. In the Fall, free flu shots are offered on the Van.
Locations we visit include the County Senior Centers in Chimayo, Edgewood, Eldorado, El Rancho, Rio en Medio, Santa Cruz, and the Rufina Food Site, County housing at Camino de Jacobo, Valle Vista, and Casa Villita, as well as City senior centers and housing at Mary Esther Gonzales, Pasatiempo, Ventana de Vida, Encino Villa, Luisa, Villa Consuelo, Rufina, Villa Alegre, and Campo Alegria.
