EDUCATION: SFPM has a multi-faceted music education program designed for the people of northern New Mexico.
Thomas O’Connor and the SFPM orchestra provide a Youth Concert Series that brings classical music to thousands of northern New Mexico students, from the communities of Santa Fe, Pecos, and Española, and the pueblos of Tesuque, Pojoaque and Nambé. This series offers four to five one-hour performances per season. SFPM covers the cost of bus transportation (so teachers don’t have to decide between art supplies and a classical music field trip), and provides online preparation materials (guided listening, directed activities, music history and biography, and games).
The SFPM CHAMPS! (Chamber Music Program for Students) is designed for all student musicians from grade school through high school who wish to explore the art of chamber music. Chamber ensembles are formed from students of similar age and skills and are coached throughout the academic year by professional musicians. SFPM charges a tuition fee for the CHAMPS! programs to help offset the cost of the professional coaching, however, there is financial aid available and no student is turned away for lack of funds.
SFPM provides free master classes for area music students and the general public.
Santa Fe Pro Musica brings together outstanding musicians to inspire and educate audiences of all ages through the performance of great music.
