SITE Santa Fe is recognized as one of the Southwest’s leading international contemporary art venues. A non-collecting art museum, SITE is committed to presenting new developments in contemporary art, supporting artistic exploration, and expanding traditional museum experiences. SITE Santa Fe’s mission is to nurture innovation, discovery, and inspiration through the art of today, and SITE’s year-round schedule of exhibitions serves as a platform for experimental curatorial work, short and long-term artist residencies, and the production and presentation of new artworks including sculpture, painting, textiles, video, photography and large-scale interactive installations. Since establishing the first international biennial of contemporary art in 1995, SITE has presented more than 80 exhibitions and works by over 750 artists. Annually, SITE presents 3-4 exhibitions, 40+ public programs, and a range of highly sought-after education programs for youth. SITE maintains rigorous artistic standards informed by its expertise in the field and by the prominence of its international network and influential guest curators. SITE presents artists from all over the world while also supporting locally-based artists with career development opportunities and significant exhibition opportunities – approximately 20% of the artists we show each year are based in New Mexico.
SITE Santa Fe nurtures innovation, discovery, and inspiration through the art of today. As a non-collecting contemporary art museum, SITE gathers artists and curators from around the world to collaborate, innovate, and pursue extraordinary ideas. As a result, SITE’s exhibitions explore a rich span of cultural perspectives and feature the work of the most boundary-pushing contemporary artists in the field. SITE is committed to providing an accessible, welcoming, and resourceful space in which people from all backgrounds feel respected, represented, and free to explore and learn; essential to this work is partnering with local schools and organizations to offer an extensive roster of Education and Public Programs that expound upon the themes in the exhibitions, foster critical thinking, inspire artistic exploration, and serve as a platform for empowering and educating the next generation of advocates of art and culture.
