The Children's Hour radio show and podcast produces nearly half of our programs live from public venues, including parks, museums, libraries, schools and city spaces with our Children's Hour Kids Crewmembers, and the community at large. All entrance fees are waived by the venues so that we can offer these live programs free for families of all ages to attend and participate, and include performers, storytellers, experts and community leaders who are interviewed by the kids on our crew and in the audience. Following the live broadcasts, families are welcome to stay and enjoy the venue. Our goal is to showcase the venue's unique offerings, as well as break down the financial barriers that prevent families from enjoying these places as a family unit. These programs also serve to train the children on our crew in public performance and speaking, broadcasting, engineering, writing, and interviewing. Our performers are either children themselves, or kid friendly, and include award winning artists of all ages, storytellers, and performance artists. We create free programming for families in New Mexico that can be attended live, or heard on the radio live or later in a podcast. These broadcasts are now syndicated across the state of New Mexico, airing on multiple public radio stations.
The Children's Hour believes all children are entitled to broadcast media that is educational, entertaining and engaging, and also includes their participation in its creation. We will produce and distribute high quality children’s media to a worldwide audience, cultivated through community involvement and participation.
