The Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association provides a comprehensive, quality music education and performance experience for students, ages six to twenty, through its various programs. SFYSA offers multi-level group lessons and rehearsals in the form of a youth symphony orchestra, 2 string orchestras, 2 jazz ensembles, Con Vivo chamber ensemble and the Mozart y Mariachi string outreach program. The Mozart y Mariachi program provides music instruction to youth in our community who have had little involvement with musical performance and who are otherwise unable to afford the costs associated with learning an instrument. After introducing young people to the fundamentals of playing their instrument, the SFYSA provides a variety of intermediate and advanced classical and mariachi learning opportunities. Through our organization students can be meaningfully involved in learning to play music for their entire public school career.
As of July 1, 2024, The Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association has merged with the The Santa Fe Symphony. The SFSYS' mission is to provide young people in northern New Mexico with educational opportunities to discover their musical potential, develop that potential into musical skills and appreciation, and to create and nurture a lifelong passion for music-making. Our combined organization provides music instruction, in both group and private settings, for orchestra, jazz, mariachi, chamber music, and choral.
