Schools are an important point of contact for families. In addition to building relationships with families to bridge the gap between the classroom and home environment to better serve students, schools are often now providing other services to children in need such as health screenings, counseling and food for children outside of the school day. This program presents a series of workshops designed to facilitate relationships with families who are struggling to meet basic needs by providing training on promoting early literacy and language to increase school readiness for young children, cooking demonstrations to show how to make healthy meals on a budget and personal connections with safety net service providers to improve health outcomes.
